Most people are always asking :
- “What does it take to become successful?”
- “Why do some people reach incredible levels of success in Network Marketing, while others are still trying to find that secret?”
The thing is that there is no secret. Success won’t be an option if you do the right things over an extended period of time. A lot of the times people are just focused on the tasks that are not bringing them results, and they just stay “busy”. You cannot expect success if you’re simply “busy”. You have to be productive, because that’s when you will start seeing results in your business.
What you have to remember when it comes to success and leadership, is that they don’t just come to you. You have to be willing to work hard to get them. Stop looking for it and stop making excuses on why you can’t do something. Follow these 7 leadership traits that I’m about to share with you. And take action on them!
1. Know Your Why
This is the very first step that you have to take, that will allow you to keep going when times get tough. It’s not all the rainbows and unicorns in Network Marketing. If you don’t have a big enough reason why you want to become successful in home business, you will quit sooner than you think. That’s the reason you have to be crystal clear on WHY you started this business in the first place. And don’t just say “I wanna make money”. Dig deeper. WHY do you wanna make money? Maybe to provide for your family, to quit your job, to retire your spouse, and to spend more quality time with your family?
Your dreams and goals will motivate you to take more action. I highly recommend that you visualize those goals every single day. You have to seriously feel them. What would it feel like moving into your dream house, or buying that car that you’ve always wanted?
A very effective exercise you can do is write your goals down in the morning and before you go to bed. Buy a separate notebook for that, and just do it. More importantly, write those goals as if they are already accomplished.
Here are a few examples:
“I am a $10,000 a month income earner in my network marketing company.”
“I recruit 5 people a week into my business.”
Another very effective thing you can do is make your goals visible to you wherever you go. Put them on your phone screen, on your computer desktop, on a mirror, on your desk, or even create a vision board and keep it right in front of you all the time. Remember, the mind can achieve what it can conceive.
2. Always Be a Student
Every single leader knows that their income will grow only if they grow. That’s why you always have to be investing in yourself and in your education. You have to constantly be striving to get better. You gotta work on improving your communication skills, leadership skills, your mindset which is critical, as well as staying on top of all the technology updates that can be used for building your Network Marketing business.
There are multiple ways that you can grow into a better leader. One of the best ones and most affordable ways are books. You have probably heard that all readers are leaders, and all leaders are readers. Just go to your nearest book store or even to Amazon and pick up any book Network Marketing related. A couple authors you can look up are Eric Worre, Mark Yarnell, Tom “Big Al” Schreiter, Randy Gage, etc.
But if you wanna take your game to the next level, the best way to become a better leader is to attend live events. You absolutely must get around people who are where you want to be. You have to surround yourself with better people to achieve your goals. Why? Because I’m pretty sure you’d rather take advice from someone who made it happen than from someone who didn’t.
3. Always Be Positive And Edify Others
Being positive no matter what happens in your business and in life is so key. And especially when it comes to building a home business, you should ALWAYS stay positive regardless of how you feel on any given day. Whether you’re on the phone with a prospect, or you’re talking with somebody in person, be the most positive person in the room. You probably know, that the first impression matters, so make it count.
And just being a positive guy or gal is not enough. You gotta edify other people around you and lift them up. When you’re meeting somebody, give them a compliment. You can say something like “Wow, you have a beautiful dress! Where did you get it?”. That not only makes you stand out from everyone else, but it also builds rapport with people and they will like you. Know that people will always remember how you made them feel.
4. Make Sure Your Brand Is Clear And Positive
If you compare the way business was built 10 or 20 years ago to the way we do it today, it’s completely different. Why? Because of the technology evolvement, and that whole Internet thing that can be used to build a profitable Network Marketing business. An online presence is a MUST for people to find you.
It totally builds your credibility when your prospects or potential prospects “Google” you or search your name on social media platforms and find out who you are and what you’re all about. Social media definitely allows you to warm up your cold market, because they can get to know you a little more.
There are a few things you must have on your social media channels:
A good profile picture. Use the same one on every site so that people remember your face.
Write a good bio about what you do and who you are
Post valuable content
This will attract better quality people to you and to your business.
5. Always Be Inviting
Do you know who makes the most money in Network Marketing? The person who invites the most people. You gotta become the queen or king of inviting your prospects to presentations, webinars, seminars, or home meetings. Don’t try to be all salesy, and be obvious that you’re just trying to make some money. Come from a place of service, from a place of helping people. And they will appreciate that you invited them, because you were trying to help, instead of just sell something.
With the technology that we have in our hands today it’s not that difficult to do. You can send an email, you can send them a text, or even better, you can give a quick call and invite them to a webinar, or a conference call if there’s one.
Make sure you do that several hours before the actual “event”, and follow up with them a few minutes before it to make sure they have the link or the conference call number and access code.
6. Always Show Up
Do you want to grow a big Network Marketing team? Then you MUST show up at whatever your company does, whether it is a training webinar or a live event. Why? Because if your team members see that you show up, they’ll think it’s important, and they will too. And if you don’t, they’ll consider that all of this is optional. You want to stay engaged and keep THEM engaged in business.
Until the moment you start showing up consistently in your Network Marketing business, people won’t take you seriously. You have to always prove that you’re here for the long term, and not just playing around with another hobby. Show them that it’s the real deal, and you’re not going away, because people want that security, and they want to know that you won’t be out of business the next week.
7. Always Set One-On-Ones
Network Marketing is a “people” business, so you have to talk with people one-on-one. That’s one of the best ways to build relationships with them. You can’t build a business without building relationships with people first. And it doesn’t matter what market you’re working on. Cold, warm, or hot, you may be working with referrals, friends, or collectiing business cards at events.
Always follow up with people either in person, or on the phone. Today even social media works since you can do calls on Facebook. That personal touch is exactly what will allow you to build a profitable Network Marketing business.
